From the mountain

Trauma-Informed Midwifery & Holistic Care for Every Journey

We offer compassionate, trauma-informed care, education, and accompaniment through every stage, experience, and outcome of your pregnancy—and across your full sexual and reproductive health journey.

Whether you’re navigating fertility, birth, loss, healing, or transition, we’re here to walk alongside you.

At the heart of our practice is the belief that you are the expert on your own body. Our role is to listen, support, and offer guidance—not to decide for you. We provide preventive, body-honoring care that centers your autonomy, your story, and your unique needs.

Our work…

Rooted in Community, Centered in Justice

Our work is a community-led practice grounded in social and reproductive justice, with the deep belief that healing is a collective responsibility. We honor the many barriers people face in accessing care—and walk alongside them with compassion, respect, and solidarity in their choices.

Montuna is made up of five interconnected projects:

  • Salud Montuna – Popular education & community health classes

  • Partería Montuna – A people’s clinic for sexual & reproductive health

  • Sabiduría Montuna – Preservation of ancestral healing traditions

  • Cabaña Mujer Montuna – A wellness center rooted in preventive care

  • Casa Montuna – A healing retreat and resting space in the diaspora

All of our work is rooted in the values of cultural respect, collective wisdom, and embodied liberation. We move from a framework of “by the people, with the people, and for the people,” offering care, education, and consultation that centers our shared power to heal—individually and together.

Our invitation...

Holding Space for Hope, Joy & Companionship

At the heart of our mission is the commitment to safeguard the values of hope, joy, and companionship—not as luxuries, but as essential medicines in our healing journeys. These values are often threatened in marginalized communities, yet they are vital to our collective well-being.

We exist to resist the systems that harm our bodies, spirits, and communities, and to respond with care that restores, reconnects, and uplifts.

Through community education, we aim to multiply healing—not just for individuals, but for entire communities—rooted in the belief that knowledge shared is power expanded, and that healing becomes stronger when it’s done together.

Our dream…

And our Vision

We imagine a world where every person is held with equity, respect, radical love, and true companionship through all of their sexual and reproductive health journeys—no matter the experience or outcome.

To make this a reality, we know that decolonizing our approach is essential. This means returning health, prevention, and wellness practices to where they’ve always belonged: in the hands of our people, rooted in ancestral wisdom, community care, and collective power.
